La combattenteLa combattente

La combattente (The Fighter), (1998; Super 16mm and BetacamSP, 26’), by Adonella Marena, docu-fiction on the memory of three generations, with Frida Malan and Ilaria Micossi. A Zenit Arti Audiovisive production in collaboration with Regione Piemonte, Città di Torino, Associazione Produrre e Riprodurre.

Synopsis:
Frida Malan was a Partisan fighter during World War Two and now is 80 years old; Ilaria is a student, 18 years old. They meet because Ilaria is collecting memories for a video about the war. Ilaria’s way of looking is too fast, but Frida’s way of being and experience raises new questions in Ilaria. They get closer and their dialogue turns into a reasoning about time and its traces upon the present.
“My movie is about the transimission of memory and is inspired by the atmosphere at the end of the Twentieth Century. A borderland zone where far away personal stories can meet and join a meaningful moment before parting. That’s the story of Ilaria the student and Frida the partisan.” (A Marena).
