Alpi e Mestieri / Alpes et Mètiers (Alps and Crafts), (2001, 5x26') series of 5 documentaries and 1 cd-rom about the traditional crafts in Piemonte and Liguria regions. A Zenit, Harold, NovaT, Machivelli co-production for C.A.M., in collaboration with Camera di Commercio di Torino, Camera di Commercio di Cuneo, Camera di Commercio di Imperia and Chambre de Mètiers des Alpes.

Alps and Crafts is a INTERREG II project aimed at the reassessment of some artisanal crafts in the regions of Alps Marittime and Cozie, between Italy and France. Within the project there were produced ten documentaries (five by the Italian side and five by the French one) and one Cd-rom, historical and informative. The five Italian documentaries and the Cd-rom were produced by Zenit Arti Audiovisive, Harold, Nova T, Machiavelli.

Alps and Crafts is a journey to discover some of the main artisan crafts in Piedmont and Liguria. Wood, ceramic, cheese, oil and stone: five traditional crafts with a renewing centuries old story.

Synopsis

  • Incontri sulla strada della Taggiasca (Meetings on the Taggiasca Road), directed by Franco Fornaris. The fascinating olive tree culture, wealth of the area around Imperia.
  • Il rinascimento della stufa (The Stove Renaissance), directed by Franco Fornaris. The manufacturing of ceramic and the production of stoves in Castellamonte, an artisanal product well-know all over the world.
  • C'era una volta un albero (Once upon a time a tree), directed by Davide Demichelis. The making and restoration of pieces of furniture in Saluzzo and Val Varaita.
  • Era tutto pietra (It was all stone), directed by Enrico Verra. Extraction and processing of stones in Luserna and Barge.
  • Quelle tre forme di Castelmagno (Castelmagno's three forms of cheese), directed by Franco Fornaris. Artisanal making of the well-known cheese from Val Grana.
